Stampede Bondo wins 4th consecutive tournament title to end season at 18-2!
Oct 12th - The Stampede Bondo 15u team set a Stampede franchise record by winning their 4th consecutive tournament this past weekend and ending the season on an incredible 14 game winning streak!
The club won the "Win the Moment" PG championship with 4 straight wins in dominating fashion.
In game 1, they boys knocked off the Ballantyne Wolfpack by the score of 10-1. They scored 6 in the 1st en route to the blowout win in just 5 innings. 6 different players had hits, while Charlie Tonne had 3 RBI's and Brooks Tucker added 2. Michael Roane, Walker Pearsall and Ryan Joliff each scored a pair of runs for Bondo's Boys. On the mound, Thomas Hamilton threw a gem, allowing only 1 hit and 1 earned run over 5 innings while striking out 5.
Game 2 on Saturday saw the Stampede jump out to 3-0 lead in the 1st and tack on 2 more in the 3rd for a commanding 5-0 lead before exploding for 6 in the top of the 7th to put the game out of reach. Joliff went
3-3 with 4 RBI's to lead the offensive onslaught. Sam Jobe had 2 hits and scored 3 times, while Tucker had a pair of hits and 2 RBI's, while Roane added two hits from his leadoff spot. On the bump, 4 pitchers combine to allow just 4 hits while striking out 9.
Championship Sunday started with a matchup against a strong X2 Scout team and the toughest win of the tournament, a 3-0 shutout in the semis. Bondo's boys again jumped out to an early lead, scoring 2 in the 1st and added an insurance run in the 4th to clear their path to the title game. Jackson Hamilton had 2 hits for the Stampede, while Roane (1-3, run) and Jobe (1-2, 2 runs) chipped in to help the offense. Jobe started and dominated from the start, going 5 innings of no-hit ball and striking out 7. Robert Jokinen finished the game with a stellar 2 hit performance of two innings to send the boys to the final.
In the title game, the 5 Star Lake Norman Heat were the opponent....but they proved to simply be a roadblock as the Stampede pounded the team from the Lake early and often on their way to an easy 10-2 win in 5 innings to take home the title. Roane again led the charge with 2 hits, 2 runs and an RBI. 5 other players had hits and the team walked 10 times in the contest. Jobe scored twice, while T. Hamilton had 3 RBI's and Walker Pearsall and Tucker added two ribbies. Bennett Wilkie and Joliff were in charge on the hill, combining for 5 innings and keeping the Lake Norman team at bay all game.
The 18-2 record is the best in Stampede history and mark that will most likely never be seen again. Congrats on an amazing fall season......and let's keep it rolling in the new year next summer!!!
